GRAPH TECH
INFORMATIVE: Videos need to be more informative. Most (especially recent), are more like product videos that should be on the product webpage or as a short/reel. The best performing videos on Graph Tech’s channel are the ones that are informative. Some definitely do need to be updated. When people are looking/researching a product, they want a review of it, and something more in depth, showing them the item, how to use it. A great current example is the Unlock Nut. Having a video showing what it is and how to install it would bring viewers to the channel (and bringing in a little bit of YouTube revenue), bringing them into the wider sphere of Graph Tech products, and might make them pull the trigger and buy something.
BRAND EXPOSURE: Talking about the wider sphere of products. When it comes to brand exposure, make people think of Graph Tech beyond the nuts. TUSQ is the brand pretty much everyone thinks of when it comes to nuts. It doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be focus on them, but there’s a lot of other products that might have other brands at the forefront of peoples minds.
In saying that, not all videos need to be specifically about a Graph Tech product for people to think about the brand. For example: the Mythos Pedals channel. Mythos is near the forefront of my mind when it comes to pedals because I watch their YouTube channel. And a lot of it doesn’t actually have to do with the pedals themselves. The videos that made me subscribe finally was Zach upgrading guitars, where no pedal was in sight. But that’s okay because I’m still thinking Mythos PEDALS when I go on the channel.
Another one is Revv Amps channel. I knew Revv amps but kind of forgot about them until their “revamped” videos starting popping up on my YouTube feed. And now the brands back in my mind, even though again, most videos aren’t Revv Amp specific. But if I was in the market for a new amp, I’d check some Revv’s out.
Away from the music space and into the motorcycle one, is Fortnine. Which is a Canadian online retail store that makes videos that are mostly not about products (just motorcycling in general). But when I need something for my bike, my first thought is to check Fortnine.
Upgrading - That’s the people you want thinking of Graph Tech. The people that are upgrading/modifying their guitar/bass/mandolin. So by making “upgrade” videos, for specific products, or even how to swap pickups, you’ll have viewers thinking about buying Ratio Tuners instead of Hipshot.
Collaborating/Sponsored - While I’m not super familiar with the Floyd Rose type of guitar player space. One person I do watch is Robert Baker, who has a wider audience than just shredders. Sending him a Unlock Nut and sponsoring a video on his channel would bring a wider exposure to the product. Or sending tuners to a guy like Rhett Shull, and maybe doing a giveaway on his channel. Sponsoring a Dipped in Tone Podcast episode (with Rhett and Zach).
UPDATING: I already mentioned how some videos need to be updated. Some are old and need a refresh. But some aren’t that old but feel dated. I think the channel needs a bit of a facelift.
VIDEO IDEAS:
- Quick Fix Friday (example below)
- How To’s (example below)
- Guitar of the Week/Month: A highlight on a guitar that uses Graph Tech products. Can be a longer video and/or a social media post.
- Guitar Build: Upgrading/modifying instruments with Graph Tech products. Can be an “off the shelf” guitar, or a kit build. It could be trying to replicate a guitar for less money. Take the Fender Triplecaster or Red Dog for example. Could collaborate with Solo Music Gear for that.
VIDEO TESTS
Here’s a couple example videos I made just using the parts on my guitars.
The below is a short/reel made from the one above.
MY WORK
A few examples of my other work.
Don’t judge my playing on this. It was off the cuff and my worst playing is at a guitar shop.
